hippiesque is a project by Stephanie Troeth, a jewellery artist and perfumer.
Steph is fascinated by the arbitrary value we attribute to objects, and brings to her work a unique vision that critically examines our relationship with things we choose to wear, keep, or what we deem as precious. While neither a materialist nor an anti-consumerist, she seeks out that space between pragmatism and idealism, searching for a way to balance beauty and light-hearted fun without being entirely frivolous. Her work is therefore infused with meaning drawn from history, mythology, lore, pop-culture with a twist of humour — mostly because she can’t seem to help herself.
