Measuring sizes

Before you order a ring, bangle or bracelet to be made, you have to measure what size it is so I can custom make it for you. Measuring is easy, simply follow the steps below. If you feel uncertain, get in touch with me and I can help you out.

Measuring your ring size

If you don’t already have a comfortable ring for that finger:

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper. Keep in mind that the paper needs to go all around your finger, plus a little extra length. I would make it about 2cm or about an inch wide.
  2. Fold the paper lengthwise in half, then fold it in half a second time. You should get a strip of paper that’s now about 0.5cm or a quarter-inch wide. It should be 4 times as thick than when you started. The thickness will give you a better idea of how comfortable the ring size will be.
  3. Wrap this paper around the finger you need sized. Make sure it’s below the joint of your finger, and close to your knuckle. Check that it’s not too tight, and you can move the paper a little back and forth.
  4. Mark the spot where the paper meets. Measure the distance with your ruler.
  5. Tell me what this measurement is when you place your order, I’ll figure out the right size.

If you already have a comfortable ring for that finger:

  1. Measure the inside diameter of the ring. This is just the furthest distance from side-to-side on the side of the ring.
  2. Tell me what this measurement is, I can figure out what’s the right size for you.

Measuring your bangle size

Bangles can be worn tight or loose, so the appropriate size will depend on the design.

  1. Cut a strip of paper, long enough to go around your arm (plus a little more) where you’d like the bangle to be. Make the strip wider 4 cm or a couple of inches, so you can fold twice lengthwise.
  2. Fold the paper lengthwise in half, then fold it in half a second time. It should be 4 times as thick than when you started. The thickness will give you a better idea of how comfortable the bangle will be.
  3. Wrap this paper around your arm or your wrist, adjust it until it’s as tight or as loose as you want.
  4. Mark the spot where the paper meets. Measure the distance with your ruler.
  5. Tell me what this measurement is when you place your order.

You can also just use a measuring tape to get a measurement if you have that lying around. Simply wrap it around your wrist, adjust it to how loose or how tight you’d like the bangle to be, and note the measurement.
